Divine Showdown is a slot from Play N Go which pits some of the greatest Gods from Greek, Roman, and Norse mythology against each other. The mythology theme has been a popular one in recent years, which means Divine Showdown really needs to impress to stand out in such a busy market. It’s a good looking game with some interesting mechanics, although the early promise of such an epic theme isn’t necessarily carried out in Divine Showdown’s game-play. It’s still a fun slot, though, which will no doubt please fans of the theme.
Divine Showdown sees players spinning the reels on a 3×5 grid of 20 pay-lines to line up combinations of matching symbols including some of the biggest legends across all mythologies, including Anubis the Egyptian god of the underworld, Greek goddess Athena, Chinese monkey god Wukong, and Norse God-slash-superhero Thor. (Fans of the Marvel franchise might be pleased to note the visual similarity between Divine Showdown’s Thor and Chris Hemsworth’s version.) Players can win up to 16x their original stake for five Thors on a pay-line, which isn’t bad. The base game-play is fun and simple; there’s really nothing wrong with it but it’s a shame the developers didn’t try to shoot a little higher.
There are a number of special features available in Divine Showdown, some of which randomly trigger during the game. These random features include a multiplier reel which can award multipliers of up to 10x; Wild Reels triggered by Wukong; and Synchronized Reels courtesy of Athena. However, the game’s biggest feature is a free spins bonus round triggered by landing three scatter symbols across the reels. In the bonus round, players choose a God to enter with, and before each round, the Battle Reel is spun. If it lands on a God symbol, this triggers a showdown between that God and the player’s God of choice which results in power symbols cascading onto the screen in place of reels. If the opposing God wins, the player loses a life and the free spins continue until all three lives are lost.
Divine Showdown is a good game no matter the device you decide to play it on. It runs smoothly on mobile devices including both iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, making it a great choice for players who prefer to do their gaming on the move. Just don’t forget to check that the online casino you’re playing at has a decent mobile site and you’re good to go.
Return to player
Divine Showdown is a little unusual in that it offers a fluctuating return to player of between 94.5% and 96.51%, which ranges from very poor to quite good, so it’s important to check the pay-table before you play if a decent RTP is important to you. Play N Go have listed Divine Showdown as a very high volatility game, which means it’s not for the faint of heart; players will need nerves of steel to hold out for the big wins available in the game.
