At the end of January, Demarai Gray left Leicester City to sign for Bayer Leverkusen, putting pen to paper on a deal until 2022 with the Bundesliga side.

In an interview with Bundesliga.com, the 24-year-old has reflected on his first weeks in Leverkusen.

“It’s a very nice place, a very nice city for a start and the environment around the club is good,” said Gray.

“I think on the pitch, things aren’t going as well as we’d want them to go but it’s still early doors for me and I’m excited to obviously help the team turn things around, just for the future of the club,” added the winger, referring to Leverkusen’s run of five games without a win.

Asked about his reasons to join Leverkusen, Gray responded:

“I think I wanted a new challenge and to try a new league. And I think the way the team plays, the style of play, it suits me very well.

“Obviously, I’ve done some research on the club and spoke to a few people at the club but I’m happy with the decision that I’ve made and as I said, I’m just excited to work here and continue to develop as a player.”
